Perched atop the iconic Mulholland Drive with a panoramic view of the Los Angeles skyline, Summit Circle is a masterclass in modern, clean-line landscape design. Courtland Studio LLC transformed this challenging hillside site into a seamless indoor-outdoor retreat that captures the essence of Southern California luxury.

Engineering: The Triple-Infinity Pool

The centerpiece of this estate is a custom-engineered infinity pool situated over 20 feet above the natural hillside slope.

  • Design Features: The pool features a rim-flow infinity edge on three sides, creating the illusion of water spilling directly into the Los Angeles horizon.
  • Amenities: A deep Baja shelf for lounging and a stunning integrated fire pit built directly into the pool structure, offering a dramatic contrast of fire and water against the city lights.

Terraced Citrus trees & Mediterranean Influence

To soften the modern architecture, we utilized terraced planters lined with fragrant kumquats and other citrus trees. Terraces catch the refreshing canyon breezes, providing experience that grounds the home in its modern – Mediterranean-inspired climate.

The Architecture of Relaxation

The transition from the interior to the backyard was designed to unwind. Upon opening the doors, guests are met with a glass-like reflection from the pool mirroring the panoramic views.

  • The Pavilion: A minimalist white modern pavilion with high-end limestone paving offers a cool, shaded retreat from the city.
  • Outdoor Living: Dedicated lounge areas and chaises maximize the California sun while maintaining privacy

Technical Excellence in Los Angeles

This project required Mulholland hillside permitting and structural coordination to achieve the 20-foot elevation for the pool deck. Blurring the line between architecture and nature, Summit Circle stands as a premier example of modern landscape design in Los Angeles.
